Quite often the best results are obtained by a combination of techniques, such as in-depth telephone interviews supplemented by secondary research and/or a survey. The final analysis includes an executive summary, description of the methodology, detailed results, visual aids such as charts and graphs, and recommendations for future actions if appropriate.
